The Best Red Black Diamond Crape Myrtle — a stunning variety with bright red flowers that stand out against the deep black foliage.
Fertilize at least every spring and summer with an all-purpose blend like our Kerby's Special 8-4-8. And contrary to popular belief, crapes do not require much pruning. You can conduct light prunes any time, such as expired or poorly placed branches. And prune spent flower clusters (between the bloom and the next leaves) to encourage a second or even third round of flowers. But save hard prunes for end of winter and never drastically cut back all the branches, this is known as "crape murder" and can shock your plant.
