Thornless, upright canes produce lots of delicious blackberries in early summer. They make a great fresh treat or salad topper. According to the University of Florida: "Plant your blackberries close to a water source, as they will most likely need extra irrigation. Consider installing drip irrigation, which will minimize weeds, as will mulch. Blackberries don't need much fertilizer; in fact, excess fertilizer can burn leaves or even kill plants."

Blackberries ripen between May and June.

Plant with Black Gold Garden Compost (a more acidic blend, great for blackberries) and Espoma's Bio-Tone
